Acoustical Visions and the Phenomenology of Sound Lecture by Bill Fontana (followed by discussions, in English)
"A sound is all the possible ways there are to hear it."
Bill Fontana is internationally known for his pioneering experiments in sound art and he is one of the world’s leading sound artists. In his lecture he will talk about his recent projects and give insight into his approach to “sound” and “listening” and in his unique way of using refined measurement technology to create his sound sculptures. After the lecture there will be time for the audience to ask questions and to engage in discussion and dialogue with Bill Fontana. In his lecture he will also present highlights of some of his most recent projects providing the audience with exciting details: Sonic Mapping, a new permanent sculpture for the entrance hall of the MAXII Museum in Rome, which was opened in 2014, Desert Soundings, his most recent project in Abu Dhabi, interrogating the sound elements and nature of sound of the Desert (2014), Acoustic Time Travel, his unique work with the Large Hadron Collider, the world’s largest and powerful particle collider, at CERN in Geneva (2013)
