"… how to work with contemporary literature and deal with its realisation, developing efficient learning-methods and awareness for one´s voice, approach to scores with extreme demands, preparation and interpretation of scheduled literature as well as literature you want to work on additionally, working in an ensemble-context, exchange with composers on realisation of scores, notation, range, functioning and specifics of voices, dealing with texts/words, practical tips … all these issues will for sure be topics dealt with during our mutual work during impuls.

Petra Hoffmann, soprano and renowned interpreter for contemporary music with a wide range of repertoire and also love for chamber music, studied with Prof. Elsa Cavelti in Frankfurt/Main. Additional studies with Charles Spencer, Paul Esswood and Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Many engagements, f.e. as Blondchen (Entführung aus dem Serail), Frasquita (Carmen), Lenio (Griechische Passion ), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Königin der Nacht (Zauberflöte), Sie (Begehren), Neither (M. Feldman), 1.Sopran (Prometeo), at Opera de la Monnaie Brüssel, Theater Basel, Opera Real Madrid, Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos Lissabon, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel Marstall and Teatro la Fenice Venedig amongst others.
As interpreter of contemporary literature Petra Hoffmann can be heard frequently at international festivals such as Salzburger Festspiele, Biennale di Venezia, Steirischer Herbst, Festwochen Luzern, Wien Modern, musica viva München, Ruhrtriennale, Milano Musica …, she also performs in Japan and South America and works together with many living composers like Beat Furrer, Aureliano Cattaneo, Isabel Mundry and Wolfgang Mitterer.
Her engagements lead to artistic collaborations with Maurizio Pollini as well as Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, SWR Symphonieorchester Baden-Baden and Freiburg, Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Nordwestdeutsche and Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, WDR Chor , Ensemble 2e2m, espai sonor, ensemble recherche under conductors like Claudio Abbado, Michael Gielen, Ingo Metzmacher, Peter Eötvös, Frieder Bernius, Antonio Pappano, Kwame Ryan, Arturo Tamayo, Emilio Pomárico, Sylvain Cambreling, Rupert Huber and Mark Foster and many others.
Numerous CD-, TV- and Radio productions give proof of the wide range of her repertoire.
For the last years Petra Hoffmann has been working also as assistant professor at universities sharing her many experiences with students. In 2011 she was teaching at the impuls Academy introducing a class for voice for the first time.
