Concerts + Exhibition:
Founded by Beat Furrer and Ernst Kovacic impuls and its international Ensemble- and Composers Academy has developed into one of the leading institutions on an international basis. Besides its biennial Academy, that assembles young interpreters and composers from all over the world in Graz, and a 14 day long Festival impuls – as an organisation for the communication of contemporary music – is also active through international composition competitions, workshops and various other programs, amongst them also unorthodox concert formats, that make today´s music accessible not only to young professionals, but also to new audiences. With the impuls MinuteConcerts a format was developed, that addresses both passerby and curious ones, experts and newcomer, professionals and amateurs, connoisseurs and discoverers. Approximately 30-minute long, diverting impuls music programs and short guidances through the exhibitions at each place for sure hold surprises for everyone. Thus stroll around with us through the beautiful City of Graz, accompany us on curcuit full of visual and acoustic experiences and crab the chance to experience young musicians, composers first hand… The excursion will end at Forum Stadtpark in the evening with more concerts to follow.
With more than 50 young musicians, amongst them Damijan, Lorenzo Derinni, Joel Diegert, Theresa Dinkhauser, Anais Favre-Bulle, Nikolaus Feinig, Sašo Fekonja, Johannes Feuchter, Elena Gabbrielli, Myriam García Fidalgo, Diego Garçia-Pliego, Barbara Gatschelhofer, Sophia Goidinger-Koch, Eszther Gurban, Klaus Haidl, Caroline Inderbitzin, Michal Knot, Anna Koch, Bogdan Laketic, Daniel Lercher, Sophie Lusty, Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka, Veronika Mayer, Max McManus, Irem Mercan, Diego Muné, Georg Palmanshofer, Arnold Plankensteiner, Philippos Polisoidis, John Popham, Federica Ragazzi, Renata Rakova, Judith Reiter, Winfried Ritsch, Vid Sčavničar, Christine Schörkhuber, Doris Segula, Simon Sirec, Aleksandra Skrilec, Istvan Szaller, Noemi Szöke, Ivan Trenev, Tamara Friebel, Vicente Vaccani Meschi, Bernadette Zeilinger (partly students and graduates of KUG/Kunstuniversität Graz and its program PPCM, of Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien and Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität) and formationen such as Duo Aliada, ensemble.kons.wien.aktuell, fr z t, IEM-TETRA ORCHESTER, KU-CLAS-SAX 4, trioNUANCE and Schallfeld Ensemble.
Improvisations and works of the 20th und 21st century (amongst them works by Louis Andriessen, Georges Aperghis, Luciano Berio, Pierluigi Billone, Matej Bonin, Pierre Boulez, Denovaire, Tamara Friebel, Beat Furrer, Vinko Globokar, Gérard Grisey, Elisabeth Harnik, Lim Hyunkyung, Alexander Kaiser, Isida Kazue Rockzaemon, Hiroyuki Itoh, Bernhard Lang, Klaus Lang, Daniel Lercher, Andreas Lindenbaum, Veronika Mayer, Simone Movio, Enno Poppe, Terry Riley, Lorenzo Romano, Giacinto Scelsi, Salvatore Sciarrino, Christine Schörkhuber, James Tenney, Christian Wolff, Isang Yun)
Each work will only be performed once, each location thus holds a different program.
Several impuls workshops led by Dimitrios Polisoidis precede these presentations.
