Founded by Beat Furrer and Ernst Kovacic impuls and its international Ensemble- and Composers Academy has developed into one of the leading institutions on an international basis. impuls assembles performers and composers from all over the world for two intensive weeks in Graz every second year and - as an organisation for the communication of contemporary music - offers furthermore a two-week long festival with concerts, lectures, discussions and many other events with diverse approaches to classical modern as well as the latest contemporary music. With an international composition competition, workshops, music communication programs and extraordinary concert formats, impuls sets an important focus and makes contemporary music accessible not only to young professional musicians, but also to an ever growing audience.
With the impuls MinuteConcerts, impuls invites you once a year to an acoustic and visual walk through galleries in Graz. Getting a taste, arriving late, departing early, taking a break here and there or enjoying 12 hours of excellent art… any approach is possible, the admission is free. The program addresses both passers-by and curious ones, experts and newcomers, professionals and amateurs, connoisseurs and discoverers, children and adults. Everybody is welcome to stroll through the city together with young professional musicians, listen to classical modern and the latest contemporary compositions close to the action and aside from classical concert venues, converse with artists, musicians, gallerists, curators and other fellow human beings … and experience music and the arts in a new interplay. As reference points serve the published starting times and locations. At each venue an approximately 30 minute long program awaits you and there will be enough time left to also explore the exhibitions. The daylong excursion will be concluded at Forum Stadtpark with several more concert parts.
