impuls promotes and supports young composers not only within its Academy, but also through the impuls Composition Competition. For 2013 again four young composers were selected by a jury, commissioned to write new pieces for ensemble and invited to take part in the impuls Composition Workshop in Vienna and Graz – where their new works are collectively rehearsed and discussed extensively with musicians of world-class ensembles such as Klangforum Wien – as well as to the premiere of their new pieces within the impuls Academy and Festival in Graz.
For both the participants of the Academy and the audiences in Graz it is possible to meet up with these composers, get to know them personally and also find out more about their works. A first contact can be made on February 9th at 6pm, when Enno Poppe, conductor of the evening, briefly gives an introduction to the pieces to be premiered. The following day, February 10th, with the event Composers in Dialogue a more detailed presentation and also discussion on the new pieces as well as the work of the composers in general is scheduled.
